Cherry angiomas are common, with most patients recognising them as single or multiple small red domes that bleed when rubbed or bumped. They are benign lesions caused by the harmless overgrowth of blood vessels in the skin. They affect both men and women and people of all ethnicities. They increase in both number and size as we age, particularly after thirty. Pregnancy is another period in which cherry angiomas may appear.

- Treatment is optional and therapies used include vascular lasers such as Excel V or V Beam (pulse dye laser) Other ablative lasers, cryotherapy, hyfrecation or excision can be employed but carry a higher risk of scarring.
