Cosmetic Consultations at The Skin Centre
Every person’s skin and goals are different, and a consultation is where we start. It’s an opportunity to talk through your concerns, assess your skin, and discuss which of our treatments may be suitable for you.
During your cosmetic consultation we take the time to understand what you’d like to address. Your clinician will assess your skin, explain the options that may be appropriate, and talk through what each involves, including what to expect, any preparation, aftercare and risks, so you can make an informed decision. Not every consultation leads to treatment, and your clinician will be honest with you about what is and isn’t likely to help.
As a full-service dermatology clinic, we have a broad range of treatments and technologies available, from laser and light-based devices to other cosmetic and skin treatments. Because there are many options, the consultation is what allows us to match an approach to your individual skin rather than the other way around.
What to expect
Your consultation takes place in a private, professional setting. It begins with a discussion of your concerns and what you’d like to achieve, followed by an assessment of your skin.
Your clinician will explain the treatment options that may suit you, including how each works, what’s involved, and the risks and recovery associated with them. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. Our aim is for you to leave understanding your options clearly enough to make a decision you’re comfortable with.
We treat your consultation, and your information, as confidential.
Your cosmetic consultation may be with a Dermal Therapist, Cosmetic Registered Nurse, Doctor or Dermatologist. The most appropriate clinician for your consultation depends on the concerns you’d like to discuss and the treatments you’re considering, as well as availability.
Our approach
We favour a considered approach grounded in skin health, not just the immediate concern. Our cosmetic team works under the oversight of the specialist Dermatologists who consult at The Skin Centre, and treatment plans are developed following an individual assessment.
We’re committed to keeping our clinical knowledge and technology current, and to being transparent with you about what a treatment can and can’t do. You’re an active participant in your treatment planning, and no treatment goes ahead without your informed agreement.
*Important information
All cosmetic procedures carry risks and may not be suitable for everyone. Cosmetic treatments at The Skin Centre begin with a consultation, where your clinician will assess your skin, discuss the options that may be appropriate for you, and explain the risks, recovery and likely number of treatments involved. Not every consultation results in treatment. Individual results vary from person to person.
The information on these pages is general and does not constitute medical advice. Suitability, risks and expected outcomes are discussed during your consultation.
