Fees & Terms

Consult Fees

Effective from 1 February 2026.

  • The Dermatologists we support generally charge a standard consultation fee of $350.00.
  • Medicare rebates may apply to eligible consultations. Rebate amounts vary depending on the type of consultation and your individual circumstances. Please check with Medicare or our reception staff to determine your eligibility and expected rebate amount.
  • For patients without a referral, the full consultation fee of $350.00 is payable on the day of the consultation.
  • Any procedures performed during or following your consultation are charged separately and will be quoted prior to treatment.

Non-refundable Booking Fee

  • To help reduce wait times and ensure every patient gets the care they need as soon as possible, we require a $50 non-refundable booking fee for all appointments. This booking fee secures your appointment and is deducted from your consultation fee. For example: $350 consultation − $50 booking fee = $300 payable on the day.

  • With wait times in excess of 6 months for Dermatologist appointments, this booking fee ensures that appointment times are respected and available for those who need them most. By reducing cancellations, the Dermatologists who consult from The Skin Centre can provide timely care to more patients in need.

  • You may reschedule your appointment without losing your booking fee, provided you give at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • The booking fee is not refunded if you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, or do not attend your appointment.

  • Thank you for your understanding and for helping us provide the best care to everyone in our community.

Private Health Insurance

  • Please note that private health funds do not provide coverage for outpatient specialist consultations.

  • You will be responsible for the full consultation fee at the time of your appointment.

Tips for optimising your consultation

  • The Dermatologists operating from The Skin Centre see many patients each day and run to a fixed schedule. It’s important to be on time, and to allow enough time to complete any paperwork and navigate the hospital parking complex. We suggest arriving at least 10 minutes before your appointment.
  • We recommend writing a few bullet-point notes on your phone about the concerns you’d like to discuss. Communicating your concerns clearly helps your Dermatologist address the priorities from a medical perspective.
  • Some patients have multiple concerns that can’t practically be addressed in a single appointment. If you think this may apply to you, ask our reception team about booking an extended appointment.
  • Your Dermatologist may suggest setting aside a few minutes for a skin self-check at home. Familiarising yourself with your skin helps you alert your doctor to any new or changing features, which can be the first signs of a concern worth reviewing.
  • Before your consultation, check with your referring doctor or our reception team that your referral has been received. If you have a paper copy, please bring it with you on the day.

Cosmetic Treatment Menu

As well as medical and surgical dermatology, The Skin Centre offers a range of cosmetic treatments delivered by our cosmetic team. Pricing for these treatments is set out in our Cosmetic Treatment Menu.

Cosmetic treatments begin with a consultation, where your clinician will assess your skin and discuss which options may be suitable for you.
