Birth Mark
treatment at The Skin Centre

The Skin Centre is located in Benowa Queensland and offers Birth Mark Treatment by Dr Michael Freeman, Dermatologist and Laser Specialist.
Port Wine Naevi occur without any known
cause. They can be troublesome cosmetically, particularly when
they are on exposed areas of the body.
Treatment with the Candela V-Beam Pulsed Long Dye Laser
is the gold standard.

The V-Beam delivers the safety and
efficacy of the clinically proven pulsed
dye laser (PDL) while minimizing the problematic side effects of
postoperative bruising, commonly referred to as purpura. It
features Candela's patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™)
to protect the epidermis.
The V-Beam's
is versatile and
can treat a wide range of vascular lesions: facial
spider veins, rosacea, scars, stretch marks and warts, to more
advanced applications such as leg veins and hemangiomas. Newer
applications include photo-rejuvenation and acne treatments.
Treatment with the Pulse Dye laser is
very effective in the majority of cases, although some patients
will require a number of treatments to achieve complete
clearance.
Importantly the Pulse Dye laser targets only
the blood vessel within the skin, thus preserving the
natural colour. Young children should be
assessed early to minimise treatments.
Mole birthmarks can now be
treated safely with the new fractionated ablative and non
ablative lasers. The mole must be assessed by your dermatologist
to be safe to treat. In general a benign compound naevus will be
suitable for treatment.
Once the mole has been faded you can expect only a very slow
regrowth. A number of treatments are also required.

When making
appointments please ask to speak with our
Laser Nurse so she can arrange appropriate treatments.
